My life has unfolded across Europe — years in Italy, Switzerland and Belgium — before I made my home here in Indiana. I speak five languages: Italian, French, German, English and Albanian. Each one opened a door to a culture, a way of thinking, a version of myself I couldn't have found otherwise. That is what I want to hand to you.
I have taught German, Italian, French and English in private schools and language schools, and most recently served as a high-school teacher of French and English. My work rests on two lasting passions — literature, and the linguistics of Second Language Acquisition — and on the task-based approach they inform: in my lessons you don't study a language from a distance, you use it to do real things from the very first hour. Because a language is not a school subject. It is the ability to say who you are — to express your thoughts, your humor, your emotions in another tongue, and to be truly understood.
